Don't start packing just yet
People who start packing weeks before leaving are challenging to understand. It is enough to do your homework on the weather and equipment you may need for activities, and that is pretty much it. For example, if you go someplace humid, you need a lot of spare pairs of socks. Foot fungus is no joke. The point is that you need to make a list, and a couple of days before your vacation, you can start packing. Just because you pack way ahead does not mean you pack everything you need. Also, packing lightly is the best way to go. We all know how it goes. We pack 10 days worth of clothes when we leave for only five. Let that go and pack just what you need, not what you may need.
Take care of your visa
While the process of getting a visa has a bad reputation, it does not necessarily have to be an unpleasant experience. Yes, going to an embassy and standing in line is not the most enjoyable activity, but you have other options at hand. Electronic visas took off in these past few years. More and more countries allow travelers to apply online, and you should as well. For example, if you travel to Cambodia, you can get a Cambodia evisa. That is if you are eligible, but the chances are pretty high. You fill in an online form, you pay and then submit your application. The visa will be linked to your passport electronically, and you will receive a copy of the document via email in PDF format. Just remember to print a few copies and take them with you.
Don't forget about your passport
It is recommended that you check your passport a few weeks before your trip. You need to check its validity since most countries require a passport that keeps its validity for at least another six months from your arrival. And if you need a new one, keep in mind that you can get cheap passport photos online. All you need is a webcam and an internet connection. The photos will arrive via courier in a few days.
I find it highly convenient that nowadays the internet can help you plan the perfect vacation. It is hard to fail at having a successful trip. You have all the information you need at a push of a few buttons, and online services are safe and secure. It can save you time, money, and let's not forget about the entire effort that goes into planning a successful vacation. My advice is that you should take advantage of that.
